If you're dreaming of a Caribbean getaway that blends luxury, adventure, and unforgettable natural beauty, let me take you through my recent journey to Grenada and Antigua with my two colleagues Paula and Laura. With breathtaking 5-star resorts, pristine beaches, rich culture, and world-class cuisine, this trip exceeded all our expectations.
Grenada: The Spice Island’s Allure
My Caribbean adventure began in Grenada, affectionately known as the Spice Island. Staying in a collection of truly exceptional 5-star resorts, I was immersed in comfort, warm hospitality, and the island’s lush, green beauty from the moment I arrived.
Luxury Stays & Special Experiences
During my stay, I visited a selection of stunning properties, including the elegant Calabash Hotel, the stylish and vibrant Mount Cinnamon, and my personal favourite — the beautiful and tranquil Spice Island Beach Resort. Each resort had its own charm, but Spice Island’s blend of beachfront serenity and impeccable service truly stood out. One of the highlights of my time at Mount Cinnamon was enjoying a cookery demonstration, where I learned to make local dishes using traditional ingredients. It was a delicious and immersive way to connect with the island’s culinary culture.
Island Tour Highlights
A guided island tour was one of the standout experiences. Deep in the rainforest, I had the unique opportunity to feed monkeys in their natural habitat — a playful and heartwarming moment. The tour also took me to the Annandale Waterfall, where I took a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear pool, surrounded by tropical foliage. It’s the kind of moment that stays with you.
Food Worth Travelling For
Grenada’s local food scene was another major highlight. The roti, in particular, was a revelation — soft, flavourful, and filled with perfectly spiced fillings. Add to that a fragrant, comforting Caribbean curry, and you’ve got a culinary experience that’s hard to beat. I also dined at one exceptional restaurant: Sails Restaurant in St. George: A beautiful waterfront location with a refined menu and scenic views.
Antigua: Sunsets, Serenity & Seaside Glamour
After four unforgettable nights in Grenada, I took a quick one-hour flight to Antigua, ready for a new adventure. Once again, I had the pleasure of staying in — and visiting — a selection of gorgeous 5-star resorts that perfectly showcased the island’s beauty.
Exploring Antigua’s Top Resorts
I visited several standout properties, each offering something unique: Galley Bay: My favourite in Antigua. An adults-only all-inclusive resort, it’s peaceful, romantic, and effortlessly luxurious, perfect for couples seeking seclusion and sophistication.
Blue Waters: A stunning resort that’s ideal for families, with spacious accommodations, multiple pools, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Carlisle Bay: A refined and stylish beachfront resort where I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at East Restaurant, known for its exquisite Asian cuisine and elegant ambience.
Sunset Moments
One evening, just before dinner, I paused to watch the sunset — a golden, glowing horizon melting into the sea. It was one of those quiet, awe-inspiring moments that made me feel completely at peace.
A Bucket List Dream: Jumby Bay
The crowning jewel of my Antigua visit was a bucket list experience: a visit to the legendary Jumby Bay Island. Accessible only by private catamaran, this exclusive resort is a world apart — serene, beautiful, and truly unforgettable. Walking its pristine shores and soaking in the elegant surroundings felt like stepping into a dream.
Final Thoughts
From feeding monkeys in Grenada’s rainforest and swimming beneath waterfalls, to luxury dinners in Antigua and a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Jumby Bay, this journey was filled with unforgettable experiences. If you're looking for a tropical escape that delivers on luxury, adventure, and cultural immersion, I can’t recommend Grenada and Antigua enough. Whether you're after peaceful romance, family fun, or a mix of both, these islands have it all. I know I’ll be returning
