Why I Loved Mauritius
I’ve been fortunate to visit some of the world’s most beautiful destinations, but Mauritius truly took my breath away. The island is incredibly lush and scenic, with dramatic mountain backdrops and crystal-clear waters. What makes Mauritius truly special, though, is the warmth of its people—everyone is so kind and welcoming, adding to the island’s undeniable charm.
During my trip, I had the opportunity to visit several luxury resorts, but Paradis Beachcomber Golf & Spa stood out. It strikes the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal choice for both couples and families. The long sandy beach is stunning, the water sports are fantastic, and the food is exceptional.
For lunch, we visited Dinarobin Beachcomber, the sister property of Paradis, and dined at La Plage, the beachside restaurant. With breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean and the iconic Le Morne Mountain as a backdrop, it was the perfect setting for a relaxed meal. I had the traditional Mauritian curry, which was bursting with flavour and a definite highlight of the trip.
Mauritius is a paradise for food lovers, thanks to its unique blend of Creole, Indian, Chinese, and French influences. From fragrant curries to freshly grilled seafood, every meal was a delight, and I loved sampling the diverse flavours the island has to offer.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the trip was the Sunset Champagne Experience at JW Marriott. The hotel arranged for me to open a bottle of champagne using a traditional sword—an incredible experience I’ll never forget! As the sun dipped below the horizon, we sat back with a glass of pink champagne and watched one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen. We then enjoyed an exquisite dinner at The Boathouse Bar & Grill, where I had linguine with lobster—perfectly cooked and packed with flavour, it was the ideal way to end an unforgettable evening.
For families, Mauritius offers an incredible selection of luxury resorts that cater to all ages. One&Only Le Saint Géran, Shangri-La Le Touessrok, and Trou aux Biches are all fantastic choices, offering spacious accommodations, family-friendly activities, and outstanding service to ensure a memorable holiday.
One thing that stood out across every hotel I visited was the exceptional level of service. The attention to detail and warm hospitality made every experience feel extra special.
I can’t wait to return to Mauritius, this time with my own family. It’s a destination that perfectly blends relaxation, adventure, and cultural richness, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
