Adventure, Wine and Luxury in Cape Town
Cape Town is a destination that truly has it all - dramatic landscapes, rich history, and an endless variety of experiences. I spent four days exploring this incredible city, staying at the stunning One&Only Cape Town, the perfect mix of urban luxury and resort-style relaxation.
A trip down the Cape Peninsula provided some of the most scenic views imaginable. From the rugged beauty of Good Hope Nature Reserve to the joy of kayaking in the ocean alongside African Penguins by Boulders Beach – so many photo opportunities! We ended the day with sundowners at Chapman’s Peak, watching the sunset over the Atlantic with a glass of South African wine in hand – perfection!!
Speaking of wine, a day in Stellenbosch with Luvo Ntezo, head sommelier at One&Only Cape Town, was an experience in itself. From the stunning Thelema Mountain Vineyard to the delicious lunch & wine pairing at Waterford Wine Estate, it was a deep dive into South Africa’s finest wines guided by one of Cape Town’s most prestigious sommeliers.
For adventure seekers, hiking Table Mountain is an absolute must. My day started at 6am, coffee in hand, as we met our guide at the mountain, still half-asleep but keen to get started. The climb was challenging but totally worth it, especially when we got to the top - the views over the city and coastline are spectacular! It’s certainly one of those moments I’ll never forget.
Back at One&Only Cape Town, the dining scene was simply world-class. Whether it was a relaxed poolside lunch at Isola, an exquisite dinner at the brand-new ROOI, or the legendary Japanese flavours of Nobu, each meal was such a delight.
Cape Town is a place that offers adventure, indulgence, and relaxation all in one. Whether you're hiking, sipping wine, or simply taking in the views, this city never disappoints. If it’s not on your list yet, it should be!
