Finding a holiday to suit the varied interests and energy levels of a multigenerational family can be a challenge, but our experience onboard Celebrity Apex made this a fantastic holiday for the whole family. With family members ranging from a granny to five grandchildren aged 14 to 23, plus the parents, this cruise provided the perfect experience for us to explore new destinations and enjoy ourselves both together and individually.
First Impressions: Luxury Meets Innovation
From the moment we stepped onboard Celebrity Apex, we were impressed by its modern design, with every detail thoughtfully created for comfort and style. The warm welcome from the crew set a positive tone, and we quickly settled into what would become our home for the week as we sailed to Northern Portugal and Spain.
What stood out on Celebrity Apex was its ability to cater to such a broad spectrum of interests. Each day offered a variety of activities that allowed us to either go our own ways or come together for shared experiences. From afternoon quizzes on days at sea, the Camp at Sea program for our travelling teens, the ship’s stunning spa for the girls, and the evening acrobatic shows at Edge which everyone enjoyed.
Out and About: Days of Exploration
Of course, the star attraction on any cruise is discovering new destinations and ports of call. As many of our stops were city based, this really did appeal to everyone. The boys ticked off visits to all the football stadiums, the girls delighted in a spot of retail therapy whilst the parents (and Granny!) enjoyed a mix of cultural exploration combined with a dose of shopping! Whilst everyone was free to do their own thing during the day, this meant we had lots to share over afternoon tea back on board or over our evening meals.
Evenings Aboard: A Time for Connection
Evenings on Celebrity Apex were when the whole family came together, for a meal or a show. The entertainment onboard was superb. From Broadway-style performances in the Theatre to more intimate live music sets scattered throughout the ship, with the younger generation certainly making the most of the late-night silent disco! Dining was a real highlight with four restaurants included, plus seven specialty restaurants to choose from. We experienced a different dining venue every evening and our favourites included Raw on Five and the Fine Cut Steakhouse where the excellent steak and lobster appealed to everyone’s differing palates.
If you’re seeking a holiday to satisfy a multitude of interests, a touch of luxury, plenty to entertain day and night, a dash of R&R, and some first-class cuisine, I would highly recommend a cruise with Celebrity Apex. It certainly ticked all the boxes for our family!
